Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, calls for re-registering the Political Parties in Ukraine
In the course of the plenary meetings of the Conciliate Council on Local Self-Government Matters that was held on Thursday in Livadia Palace (Yalta city), V. Lytvyn declared that it is necessary to give an answer to a question: does the present political system in Ukraine harmonize with the present situation in the state?
The Head of the Parliament explained that in Ukraine "there are people that would form any political party for a particular sum of money and later would sell it when the "season starts." "Let us make a principal question, that we need a re-registration of the political parties", he stated and added that "in Ukraine exists distorted party system" that would strengthen a division of Ukraine hence it is necessary "to follow a civilized direction."
V. Lytvyn reminded that there are 180 parties registered in Ukraine and expressed the thought that it is necessary to check the availability of the party organizations in regions.
